Idea for twitter

How do you get to know about the corner coffee shop performance and a private art viewing exhibition in a clubhouse? Equally applicable to small or big events there is a lack of one single resource about events. Event websites, being more for profit making and having sponsored spots and advertisements, tend to list events that they have an direct or indirect benefit from.

I present to you: #todayin(cityname)
(example) #todayinchicago Street performances by Fire eating jugglers at Devon Street.

Every day in the morning, people who have events to promote can use this hashtag in the morning.
This method can be also as for events on the following day

This will bring forward all events which twitter users have tagged on what’s happening in the city. This hashtag will have daily inputs by users throughout the city and this way we can have up to date (literally) event schedule with a diverse range of events. This will take care of the shortcoming an existing publication will have, like promotion of only certain type of events.
This will also benefit travelers by bucket loads. When you are in a country and then you have spare time during your day without a clue on where to go and what to do, even normal event listings will be hard to locate. You can just type in #todayinthecity for the day’s events.
For smaller sized countries, instead of city you can type a country #todayinBahrian

This is a large untapped market for internet users craving for information, I see twitter grabbing it by ease and dominating the market. I am sure analysts at twitter will be able to see how many searches are made that fall into this category.

On a larger picture twitter should also consider introducing having standardized hashtags for dissemination of useful information and people using twitter as a search engine – gaining in traffic which would otherwise have gone to another search engine!

Emir of Qatar

Salaam O Alaikum,

Dear Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad, I have a very useful proposal and that can bring in additional revenue for investing in new projects and  also help reduce carbon footprint at the same time which Qatar needs at this moment.
Awaiting to possibly meet you on this.

The Kid with a bike

I participated in a competition to win a pair of tickets run by @qfradio on tueday. The tickets were for the Wednesday night screening of The Kid with a Bike and guess what? I did win! I couldn’t get any of my friends to come and see the movie with me so I decided to give one of the tickets away. After asking about 5 people finally managed one to find someone who hadn’t bought the tickets already and wanted to see the movie. No exchange of cash was involved in this transfer J. What was good to see was that the guy was extremely happy. It made my day…umm.. no actually, it ended my day well because it was already night when I handed over the tickets.

About the movie:
I felt the theme of the movie #KWAB is about coming to terms. This includes kid realizing the truth about his father. How the foster mother sees her relationship with the kid. The kids’ realizing that he has done wrong with the crime he commits and is devoid of any revenge when he himself becomes a victim of revenge.
Thanks to @dohafilm for bringing this movie down to viewers in Doha. If you haven’t watched the movie yet, I would recommend you to go ahead and see it. Tickets and showtimes are available on

P.S: Kids with their stubbornness sure are annoying.

The Ketchup Song in the toilet

You know what confuses me the most? Rest rooms! and in particular their wash basins. Sometimes the faucet is automated, sometimes the liquid soap dispenser is and at other times nothing except the paper towel dispenses automatically. As a result, as soon as I enter the washroom, in order to check whether automated dispensers exist, I begin to perform the steps to the ketchup song.

Eid Mub rayak?

Ramadan is over and so is the commercial aspect of quenching peoples wallet in the name of religion.
It’s simple, being in an Islamic country. Over the entire period in Ramadan, Sohour and Iftar buffets are regular offering in all types of food joints. The only Islamic thing in them are the names of the meals.
If it isn’t for corporate events, most people who attend these are people who are not even fasting. Instead of eating normal quantities, people tend to over eat (weight gain is very common in Ramadan due to this).
Most of the Sohours also are a showcase competition on how much skin can be exposed and limits pushed.
So what if the pubs can’t be frequented during Ramadan, we will ensure that the Ramadan tents will have the same atmosphere by our tobacco consumption through cigarettes and sheesha. Is there a direct relation with enclosed specialized gathering set-ups and sheesha?
